This message is probably created by those NTU students who had witness the whole the incident and some of the details may be added in by the reporters or journalist to make it more exaggerating.
ReplyDeleteIn the video, some part of it are censored, that attracted my attention. The witnesses and the reporter who said different things about the incident also made me puzzled and don’t know who to believe in.
The title of this article is “Student stabs prof, falls”. And there were two sentences which do not match. “A NANYANG Technological University professor was stabbed by his final-year project student” and “A final year student, David Hartanto Widjaja, 21, from the electrical and electronic engineering school is believed to have stabbed Associate Professor Chan Kap Luk,“ The first sentence says that the professor WAS stab while the second sentence says that David IS BELIEVED to have stabbed the professor, this two sentence totally have different meanings. At first, they says that he is confirm to be stab by David, while the second sentence says that he most probably, but not confirm has stabbed the professor. From my point of view, I would say that the professor is not confirmed to be stab by David. Why? Because there were no eye-witness or any evidence which can prove it. We cannot believe that David had killed just because of his death after the incident had happened. Evidence should be gathered before we can assured that David was the murderer.
David is most probably stress from his exams and because this is final year already, so he would be even more stress. And, plus his parents are not by his side to help him cope or to lend him a listening ear.
It is to tell people not to commit suicide or do any silly things because of stress.
There are many ways to relieve stress, so actually you do not need to end your life because you are stress! (:

The people who created the message are probably eyewitnesses, students and teachers. They might have watched the incident happen before their eyes or they heard about it from somebody else. However, we cannot be sure that what they said is 100 percent true. They might have mede up the story or added parts to the story to make it more interesting. By doing so, they can easily get more people to listen to them, and they will then gain more fame.
ReplyDeleteThe story is about, 22-year-old student, David Hartanto Widjaja had allegedly stabbed his profesor, Chan Kap Luk, in the back multiple times. After that, the student slit his wrist and jumped to his death off the 5-storey Nanyang Technological University. As said by a student, there were multiple stab wounds on the professor's back as he went into the ambulance. David could have killed himself not only because of stress, but also personal problems such as family issues. He also might have killed himself because he did not want to get in touble for stabbing the professor. If we want to know exactly how the professor was stabbed, we can go and ask the professor himself, to prevent any misunderstandings. There is a possibility that he was angry with the professor over a matter and had stabbed him.
Still, killing himself and stabbing his professor is definitely not the way for David to solve his problems. Instead of only studying all the time, which will add to the stress, he should engage himself in leisure activities such as swimming, strolling, biking and many more, to take his mind off the stress he is facing.

I think the school should have a lesson on time management as from what i heard from my mother,the boy played too much DOTA and his studies deproved so he lost his scholarship and decided to stab his lecturer and commit sucide. For example, there is a student during the interview say that the professer is bare bodied, yet he said there was bandages around his arms and chest.WHat attracted me is actually the big headlines on the newspaper as well as the background sence. I think that this is an accident however, people might think that it is a sucide mission. At my point of view, I feel that David had made a very large mistake by ending his life. There he is choosing to end his life, while many others is fighting to hold on to their lifes.

I think that the message is posted by a NTU student. The message is a little confusing as they said that the victim was stabbed at the back but the witness saw them bandaging the front. shouldn't the Red Cross members bandage the back where the blood was flowing out? I think the person that commited suicide is because he is under a lot of stress and the professor happened to walk past the corridor where he wanted to comit suicide. The student didn't want anyone to know that he commited suicide so, he decided to kill him as well and then commit suicide. The student might also kill the professor because he hates the proffesor and wanted him dead, but he regreted his actions and decided to kill himself in the end. He lost his scholarship because he was not balancing play and work correctly. He did not do well in his studies, that is why he wanted to commit suicide. We have to learn to balance out our time so thaat we have enough time to have fun, yet complete our assignments. I think that the people who made this message are the witnesses of the whole incident, more specific, an NTU student. It was the background of the incident that interested me. Many people do not know the truth behind the story and they might think that the cause of the boy's death is actually cause by the excessive stressed in his studies and that there was actually no concern shown by his parents. I think the real reason for commiting such an act might be bacause of his addiction to computer games resulting in him losing his scholarship because of his bad result. If every student is like that, what would the world be? We should mannage our time between studying and playing. As each person have their own different point of view, example, from the last paragraph, the last second sentence, ‘help the student's family.’ How are they going to help David Hartanto Widjaja's family? Some might think they would be giving his family some money to satisfy them, while some might think of counseling them. However, from my opinion, the university community cannot do anything to help them; it is no use. David Hartanto Widjaja's family wants his son, not money; the university cannot do anything to bring their son back to life or to replace him.

ReplyDelete#2 - The creative techniques used to attract my attention is the header on top of the video. The word 'stabbing' actually attracts my attention, as there were not many murder cases happening around, especially those consisting of professors and students. In addition, the censored corpse also attracted my attention, as it was not frequently that the news would show pictures of these. Last but not least, the witnesses they interviewed attracted me, as the statements given by the witnesses were first-hand, which is most likely to be true.
#3 - Everyone has different opinions. For example, the news claims that the student had killed the professor and then jumped to his death, because of him losing the scholarship. However, friends of David did not agree with this statement. They all had different opinions of him committing suicide, like because of too much stress, family problems or even mental confusion. However, I personally think that he committed suicide because of too much stress, probably given by his professors, lecturers, parents and even friends. He most likely could not cope with the pressure, and the fact that he had no more scholarship. Most likely, he killed the professor in a rash and then decided to end his own life, thinking that there was no more other options in life for him.
#4 - The message is saying that we should not end our own life just because of a small setback in life. No matter what happens, life still must go on. So why should we just not persevere? It says that we should actually face and tackle the difficulties we have with courage. We should all live life happily and to its fullest. Life is short, and there are actually a lot of happy moments waiting for you to encounter.

3.As many people think differently, we might have a differnt idea of what the story is about. For such cases, as the main character is a teenager, many might think that he killed himself because of being overstressed, BGR relationships etc.
4.David actually made a very ruthless decision.He did not of the consequences of his actions. He caused his parents to be overwhelmed with grief and many students to have a bad scare.
5.I think this message was sent to tell everyone that never back down because of a minor setback and be careful of what influences us.

i think this news broadcast was made by the jounalists. the way the broadcaster spoke was what captured my attention the most. the broad caster spoke with a firm steady and clear voice.different people have differnt views about things and therefore we cannot judge them by their views . some may think that journalists are trying to hide the real cause of his death.this broadcast does give us an exact reason to why david died or why he stabbed the proffesor. i think this messga is being sent to tell people that this types of incidents are occuring and to share the news with everyone.

ReplyDeleteI think that it is a journalist who created this message. The crime scene and the way the broadcaster spoke attracted my attention. The broadcaster spoke fluently and gave a clear explaination of what it is going on. However, many people have different opinion. We may not share the same views with others. We also cannot say that david's case was true because there were no eye witness or anything to prove that he stabbed his professer. I think this message is used to tell people that death is not the always solution out. We can try to look at the brighter side or do some favourite activities to reduce stress.

The news report made by the reporter has caused a lot of conflict over the murder case.The recounts of the NTU students and the report has attracted my attention.I think that they should interview more students and especially,the teachers,about the murder case and what they think about it.
ReplyDeleteI think of this news report as mysterious,as many students had different recounts of the incident.To other people,the incident may seem as nothing to them.One reason is that there could have been other murder incidents,such as the NUS stabbing incident in 2003,when the professor involved in the incident died.The other reason is that they may have never known the person before and had nothing to do with them.
In the news report,they lacked more about 22 year old David Hartono Widjaja.For example,what they lacked was his family life and any last messages he left before the murder incident took place.
The message was spread to everyone to inform everyone about the incident.Sadly,there can be careless mistakes about the incident when told to everyone.
I end here by saying that we should be more careful in whatever we do or say.Everyone should look at its credibility before spreading the message any further.

this message waas probably created by a news reporter who gathered information from eye witness accounts and police reports.it however has caused many rumours to develop as the reporter was not sensitive enough about the student's private life.eyewitnesses who were at the incident were interviewed and shown to attract my attention as we as people are more interested in those information that are provided by those who experienced it or were there at that time.this message is being sent because it is a serious incident that will reflect on singapore's reputation and education system
